The Suspension of classes and/or Emergency closure of establishment(s) during unusual and unpredictable circumstances or inclement weather policy stipulates three different closures in the event of inclement weather conditions:Ìý

  1. Cancellation of transportationÌý
  2. Suspension of classesÌý
  3. Temporary closure of establishment (To be used in unpredictable circumstances not necessarily related to inclement weather.) (Examples: loss of power, natural disaster, strikes, etc.)Ìý

How We Communicate Closures and Cancellations

During inclement weather, decisions to close a school are usually made before 6 a.m. Once the decision is made to cancel transportation, suspend classes or conduct a temporary closure of establishment, we immediately:

  • Email and SMS: Parents, guardians, and employees receive an email and SMS notification via COMMUNICATE.
  • Website: List of schools/centres affected on the SWLSB homepage.Ìý
  • Social Media: Update .Ìý
  • Phone Line: The names of affected schools are listed on the administrative centre’s phone line at 450-621-5600 or 1-866-621-5600.
  • Media: Local radio and television networks are notified.Ìý
